A very informative one that is not boring and kind of fun to read is by James A. Michener called IBERIA.
I read it just before I moved there in 1974 and found it to be a lot of help.
Ancient History, before the Moors left would be El Cid. It is fiction, but it is a great story, full of accurate history.
